Fostering Saves Lives
When you become a foster, you give a dog the opportunity to be saved. Our foster families are extremely important to us, as there is no way we could do what we do without them! We are often at a shortage for foster homes, but there is no shortage of dogs needing our help. The more fosters we have, the more dogs we are able to rescue without hesitation! Please understand that most times we do not have pictures of dogs we need to rescue. We do not know their background but they have usually never been in a kennel, a house or vaccinated etc. We cannot make any guarantees when we bring dogs in but cannot bring them in without foster homes. You are not able to meet dogs prior to fostering them as we cannot bring them in until we have a foster home. Fostering is also not about picking and choosing based on the looks or gender (unless there is a specific reason for picking gender). We understand people want to know as much information as possible but unfortunately that is not the reality when we are rescuing from the communities considering most of our intakes are strays.
To become a foster, fill out the foster application. We will review the application, schedule a meeting to go over our contract, protocols, quarantine procedures, and to answer any questions you may have!
Fostering is absolutely free to you. We provide all necessary supplies needed in order to foster, including kennel, collar, leash, food bowls, food, blankets, toys, pee pads, etc! If there is ever anything you need, you get a hold of our foster coordinator who will make sure it gets to you! We have amazing dog trainers who work with us to help correct any bad behaviours, though it is often rare that these trainers are needed! The dogs that are brought into care are often just so happy to be loved, fed, and safe, and will easily show their appreciation! We cover the cost of all vet appointments. We ask that if possible, you can help provide transportation to and from vet appointments, but we can provide volunteers if you are unable to!
Fostering is a great experience, and can be a useful stepping stone when considering adopting a dog of your own. It is also a good way to get children involved with volunteering, and to teach kindness and compassion.
Please consider becoming a foster today, and help save a life!
